A quality lace front wig can last well over a year with the right care — but a few bad habits can wear it out in weeks. Here’s how to protect yours.
- Detangle before you wash, not after. Brush from the ends up with a wide-tooth comb while the hair is dry, then wash.
- Use lukewarm water and sulphate-free shampoo. Hot water and harsh formulas strip the fibres faster than normal wear does.
- Let it air-dry on a wig stand. Heat tools are fine occasionally, but skipping the blow-dryer keeps the lace intact longer.
- Store it properly between wears. A stand or a silk bag keeps the style and prevents matting — never a plastic bag.
- Refresh the lace, not just the hair. A light lace cleanser before reapplying keeps the hairline looking natural wear after wear.
Treat your wig like the investment it is, and it’ll return the favour every time you put it on.
